On April 3, 2019, ONG Jade organized a new edition of its "Initiatives Océanes" project in cooperation with the NGO Surfrider Foundation Europe. This time, the event took place in Soanierana-Ivongo, a coastal town in Madagascar. The main objective of this project was to educate the region's young people about the harmfulness of plastic and other non-biodegradable waste, as well as to clean the beach to restore it to its natural state.
ONG Jade visited schools in Soanierana-Ivongo to invite pupils to take part in this event, which also included a video screening on "The harmfulness of plastic waste in the water cycle" and was joined by students and another association. In total, 198 people took part, including 185 high school and middle school students, and about 2.5 cubic meters of waste were collected, around 80% of it plastic. Jade's actual expenses for this event were minimal, amounting to only €280.
