Founding
An NGO called J.A.DE., or Jeunes Actifs pour le Développement (Young People Active for Development), was founded in Tamatave on 12 February 2005, with the aim of acting with and for young people.
The founder, Mr Rosin SALAVA, originally from Vatomandry (a town south of the Atsinanana region), was JADE's first President.
The areas of action "fighting poverty", "environmental protection" and "promoting and popularising ICT" were already provided for in the statutes.
Our organisation initially focused mainly on running awareness campaigns for young people on environmental issues, which were still largely underestimated at the time.
The founder
SALAVA Rosin
A former student of Stella Maris and later of the University of Fianarantsoa, and an Aikido master. He was the founding President of the NGO (2005-2010). He places great importance on youth civic action, seeing young people as drivers of development and agents of change and awareness for environmental protection (among other things through a radio programme in Tamatave).
Vision
Young people in Madagascar gain the training and experience they need to find employment or start a business that secures them a good quality of life; young people contribute to community life and take on the responsibility they wish to bear in protecting the environment and the climate.
Mission
NGO JADE promotes the knowledge and use of new technologies to improve quality of life and communication. JADE carries out projects to fight poverty, including support for schooling and small business creation, as well as other social initiatives. Through various measures, JADE encourages young people to protect their environment and climate.
PURPOSE
NGO JADE has set itself the goal of promoting "development of young people, by young people and for young people" in its area of operation, namely the Atsinanana region and, occasionally, neighbouring regions such as Analanjirofo and Alaotra-Mangoro. To this end, it combines its efforts across three areas of action:
Fighting poverty
Support for schooling disadvantaged primary-age children in rural areas and for business creation, especially among young people, in the former province of Toamasina.

A word from our current president
Welcome to the website of NGO JADE, based in Tamatave, Madagascar.
I am MARA LIESY Nanilina Clémencia, elected President of the NGO on 28 January 2024. I am determined to lead this organisation with a deep commitment to actively supporting and accompanying our members in their projects, so as to foster their engagement and maximise their contribution to the development of young people.
Guided by my passion for community progress, I am taking charge of the destiny of this association dedicated to the advancement of young Malagasy people. Our goal is to encourage the exploration of technological advances to improve well-being and communication. JADE is committed to anti-poverty initiatives by encouraging education, small business development and other social initiatives. Through various strategies, JADE encourages young people to be advocates for the environment and the climate.
My particular commitment is to supporting active members, encouraging their active participation in the responsibilities of NGO JADE. We are a united team, and I firmly believe that our collaboration and dedication will build a future with a positive, lasting impact on our local communities.
Our members
JADE is an NGO with an organizational structure made up of members, namely the Board of Directors, executive and active members, as well as honorary members. Together, they take part in the NGO's activities and contribute to its development.

- Launched the green school and revived the green class (2018)
- Launched a new recruitment drive
- Sought local, regional (UJA, AST...) and national (German cooperation...) strategic partnerships
