Open Days 2015

JADE, a non-profit NGO, works to promote new information and communication technologies (ICT) and, in particular, free software. In this context, this year it organized a new edition of the event to raise awareness among students and young professionals about free software, in particular Ubuntu, on November 28 and 29, 2015. In 2014, this event was called "Open days" due to its two-day duration, and its main objectives were to raise awareness among young people in Toamasina about the opportunities offered by the ICT sector and to share experiences and knowledge in ICT through demonstrations. The "Open days" also allowed JADE to make the NGO known and to recruit new volunteer members.

The "Open days 2015" was organized with the collaboration of local and national partners such as AGIR, EASTFocus, SEEGRAPHIC, E-Média of Antananarivo and ENI of Fianarantsoa. Each of these speakers covered their own topic in a spirit of sharing, allowing participants to attend every presentation. The participatory approach adopted by JADE for this event was well received, for the benefit of young students and professionals in Toamasina.

The results of the "Open days" event were encouraging, with the participation of 92 people, including 18 professionals, and the recruitment of 4 new members. Nine topics were covered, ranging from the presentation of the NGO JADE to computer security, including MOOCs. The demonstrations and presentations were greatly appreciated by the participants, who were able to broaden their knowledge and experience in ICT.
