Open Days 2014

Nos activités, ONG Jade 2014, Open Days, Vulgarisation des outils TIC

JADE, a non-profit NGO, works to promote new information and communication technologies (ICT) and, in particular, free software; it is in this context that the NGO organized an event for the promotion of new information and communication technologies (ICT) and free software.

From 2009 to 2012, our project always focused on the free distribution of the Ubuntu (Linux) operating system, and it was thus called Ubuntu Install Party

The event took place on December 6 and 7, 2014 at the private high school "Stella Maris," with the main objectives of informing young people about the opportunities offered by the ICT sector, sharing knowledge and experiences in ICT, and making the NGO and its activities known. Local and national partners also took part in the event by presenting their respective topics.

The participatory approach adopted by JADE allowed 92 people, including 18 professionals, to take part in the nine topics presented during the event. Four young students joined the NGO as new members. The topics presented covered the presentation of the NGO JADE, multimedia professions, computer security, digital photography, the Java application, as well as online learning with MOOCs.

The first edition of JADE's "Open days" was therefore a success for the NGO, with active participation from guests and participants. Young students and professionals in Toamasina were thus able to discover and share knowledge in ICT, while being informed of the opportunities opening up in this field.
