Initiatives Océanes 2020 - Île aux Prunes

Initiatives Océanes 2021 is a beach and waterway cleanup program launched every spring by the NGO Surfrider Foundation Europe. In 2020, ONG JADE organized a small poetry, drawing and slam poetry competition to encourage young people to protect the environment. The 10 selected winners thus joined the organization's members on Île aux Prunes to take part in the Initiative Océane 2020 project. This project was carried out in two phases: the competition phase and the beach cleanup phase.

For the competition phase, ONG JADE launched three drawing, poetry and slam poetry competitions, with the common theme "Encouraging people to protect the environment". The cleanup phase began on November 28, 2020 with a presentation of the organization and its teams, followed by an explanation of the objectives and activities on site. Participants were then split into two groups, accompanied by the organization's teams, to clean the islet's remote corners. The results achieved were positive: 21 people took part in the beach cleanup, and 9 bags of waste were collected on the islet and brought back to the mainland.
