World Environment Day 2024: NGO J.A.DE in Action against Plastic Pollution.

NGO J.A.DE (Jeunes Actifs pour le Développement) actively took part in World Environment Day on June 8, 2024 in Toamasina, answering the global call to combat plastic pollution. Faced with growing environmental degradation in Madagascar marked by deforestation and the proliferation of waste, this civic participation is part of an effort to preserve ecosystems.​

The NGO deployed 23 active members across three strategic actions: an eco-gesture carnival in front of the Youth Center at 7:25 am to raise public awareness, an opening conference at 8:20 am with the mayor and local authorities demonstrating multi-stakeholder engagement, and then an intensive cleanup of Miami-Neptune beach starting at 9:30 am. This participation illustrates the effectiveness of an approach combining festive awareness-raising, institutional dialogue and concrete field action.​

J.A.DE's mobilization during this global celebration demonstrates that civic engagement is the fundamental lever of ecological transformation. This active contribution positions the organization as a key player in environmental protection in Toamasina and serves as a model for Malagasy NGOs wishing to get involved in major international ecological causes.
