Handover of School Furniture to EPP Ambodimanga II

Fighting poverty by helping disadvantaged children access education is a primary objective, especially in rural areas of Madagascar. It is in this context that the NGO JADE has been implementing a project for the schooling of children in precarious situations in rural areas since 2009. This project is funded by private German donors and currently benefits 60 children spread across 4 different sites, including EPP Ambodimanga II, about 110 kilometers north of Tamatave, near Fénérive-Est. This site recently received a donation of 40 school desks for about 120 students, thus ensuring better quality education for students who had previously been without them. This handover of school furniture took place in March 2018 during an official ceremony in the presence of the competent authorities, parent representatives and members of the NGO JADE.

In December 2017, officials at EPP Ambodimanga II noted a lack of school furniture within the school. Thanks to collaboration with the NGO JADE, an experienced carpenter was hired to make 40 school desks in a record time of three months. The school furniture was then delivered by truck in March 2018. During the official ceremony that followed, all beneficiaries, parent representatives and school staff expressed their gratitude to the NGO JADE for this initiative, which will considerably improve the quality of education for students in this hard-to-reach rural area. This concrete action by the NGO JADE strengthens the schooling of disadvantaged children in rural areas, one of the pillars of the fight against poverty in Madagascar.
