Entrepreneurial training 2019-2020

The unemployment situation among young graduates in Madagascar is alarming. ONG Jade is involved in promoting entrepreneurship to offer training and personalized support. The goal is to support the creation of startups, microenterprises and SMEs in order to reduce youth unemployment and formalize the labor market.

ONG Jade's 2019-2020 entrepreneurial training project, which ran from July 2019 to June 2020, aimed to encourage young people in Tamatave to develop their businesses, to provide them with the necessary skills through training, and to help them implement their projects. The program was set up in six stages, in collaboration with La Pépinière d'Entreprises de Tamatave. It concluded with a symposium where the young entrepreneurs shared the knowledge they had acquired, with selected speakers who talked about their businesses. The three best projects won prizes in the form of interest-free microcredits. Participants also benefited from a year of free mentoring and advanced training in communication and marketing.

The project was entirely funded by a generous donation from the business consultancy firm of Toni Großmann of Dresden, Germany. Registration fees also contributed to the general expenses. The trainers offered their time free of charge, and the Pépinière d'Entreprises premises were made available free of charge or for a modest sum, which considerably reduced costs. In total, ONG Jade spent only 4,781,700 Ariary (around €1,195) for the three phases of the project, at an average exchange rate of €1 = 4,000 Ariary in May/June 2019.
