The NGO Jeunes Actifs pour le Développement (JADE) launched a project to help with the schooling of disadvantaged children in the villages of Vatomandry, Ambodisaina and Ambodimanga, in 2009, with the support of private German donors. The project was implemented in two phases: a preliminary survey and the implementation of the project. The objectives were to help families finance their children's schooling, encourage children to persevere in their studies, with the NGO's young members presented as role models to follow. The report accounts for the results obtained and remarks to improve future actions. The project was carried out in 4 stages for each target village, and the annual implementation results in the official payment of the school fee contribution and supplies for the entire school year. Parents commit to making the supplies available only to the designated child and to comply with the follow-up requirements carried out afterward by the NGO JADE.

Ambodimanga 2 - October 10, 2016

The ceremony for the distribution of school supplies took place in a classroom of the school, in the presence of the headmistress, other school representatives, FRAM representatives, a few parents and all the children. The Ambodimanga II fokontany is located 10 km west of the city of Fénérive-Est, in a remote and hard-to-reach region served by a single secondary road in poor condition. The 2,629 inhabitants live mainly from agriculture, notably growing rice, cassava, bananas and spices such as vanilla or cloves.
The project enabled the schooling of 60 children in difficult financial situations. 60% of the children are girls, and the average age is 9 years and 2 weeks. The success rate of all the students is 62%. The costs were 1,143.75 euros for the whole project and about 19.06 euros per child. Funding was provided in part by the SorOptimisten Pirna Association and other private German donors.
