Initiatives Océanes 2021 - Vatomandry

The Initiatives Océanes 2021, which involves cleaning beaches and other waterways every spring, took place in Vatomandry on June 21 and 22, 2021. ONG Jade's main objective was to educate the town's young people about the harmfulness of plastic, metals and other non-biodegradable waste while cleaning the beach to restore it to its natural state. This initiative was set up to raise awareness among young people and the community about the environmental impact of non-biodegradable waste on beaches and waterways.

Beach cleanups and the restoration of the natural environment have a considerable environmental impact. Plastic waste and other non-biodegradable waste found on beaches and waterways can cause significant damage to the marine environment. Marine animals can become trapped in this waste, which can lead to their death. Waste can also harm water quality, which can have consequences for human health.

ONG Jade's Initiatives Océanes 2021 raised awareness among young people in Vatomandry about the environmental impact of non-biodegradable waste on beaches and waterways. Young people were thus involved in cleaning the beach and took part in a plastic waste sorting and plastic recycling session. This participation allowed them to understand the importance of cleaning beaches and waterways to protect the environment and preserve biodiversity.

In short, initiatives like this one are important for raising awareness among young people and the community about the environmental impact of non-biodegradable waste on beaches and waterways. By involving young people in cleaning and sorting waste, positive behavioral changes can be encouraged that can reduce the impact of waste on the environment. It is therefore an important initiative that contributes to the preservation of marine biodiversity and the environment.
